10-05-2013 Family Visit!

Hi All!

I had a wonderful time in Portugal with family and friends and amazingly good weather.

My internship is going very well - I starting to work more efficiently and I'm more satisfied about my work aswell.

My father came to Ardmore with his friend, Pascal, and stayed at the Cliff House Hotel for two nights. On the first evening we went to Cork city for dinner and the second evening we had dinner in the House Restaurant - the Michelin Star Restaurant, it delicisious and I was really impressed.
My father departed on the 24th April.

On Wednesday the 1st May my mother arrived with my stepfather and my two sisters.
We went to Cork city and saw many other places.
We saw some beautiful partes of Ireland and the weather was beautiful on those days.

It was really good to have my family here in Ireland. They now know where I am working and how everything looks like.

Hello All!

I have moved to the other Staff House!
In total there are six people living in the House - Margaux, Tomas, Adrien, Ettiene and Goulwen.
Very nice people and I'm really enjoying to stay in the same house with them.

My internship is going very well - I am starting to take reservations through the phone! It is still difficult for me to take them but it's a challenge!
I have also started checking-in and checking-out guests.

I am writing this message from Cork Airport. I am going to Portugal for 4 days for personal reasons.
I had not expected that I had to go to Portugal during my internship in Ireland.
Though I am not going for the nicest reason, I am really looking forward to see my family and friends.

31-03-2013 Starting from the Basics

Hello All!

I started my work two weeks ago - on the 15th My 2013.

The first week was based on introduction. I wasn't trained to work at the Reception desk so it realy was "starting from the Basics".

I got introduced to the desk by a lovely lady called Colette!

Colette is the main receptionist!

Everyone is very kind, including my two house mates - Marion and Caroline.
In a few days time I am moving to another Staff House.

The phone are busy and at the beginnen it's difficult to help the guests if you do not know how to help them. The thing I had to do is to observe what other members of our team do and try to improve my work.

I am confident that I will not have problems taking reservations trough the phone in a few weeks time. 

I feel also that my English - writing and speaking skills are improving daily. That's a good sign ;)

I am enjoying the peace and quietness in the small village Ardmore.

14-03-2013 - Arrival in Ardmore

Good Morning all!

I have just made an important decision in my life - going for 5 months to Ireland.

I flew yesterday from Amsterdam to Cork, a 1 hour and 30 minutes flight.

My mum and my two sisters drove me to Schiphol Airport where we had to say goodbye.

It was a sad moment but knowing that it would be a good experience I left to the Airport Gate -  I knew I would very soon see them again.

I arrived in Cork and was told by the Deputy manager that the porter would be there to collect me. The name of the porter was Patrick Power - the kindest gentleman I could expect. Patrick gave me an unexplainable wonderful and warm welcome - I felt home.

Patrick drove me to The Cliff House Hotel where we arrived at about 11.30pm. Patrick was not sure if my room in the Staff House was ready for the night so he gave a key for one of the rooms of the 5star hotel.

The next thing I remember is waking up in a bed facing a stunning view - the Ardmore Bay!

I am writing this from this room, enjoying the gorgeous view.

Looking forward to be introduced to my colleagues and house mates.
